“ I found My Soul Again” Traffickers took a 15 year old migrant child from Guatemala to Tijuana where she was sold for sex. One day, the traffickers told her they’d be gone for a while and not to try to leave, as the house was gated and surrounded by hungry dogs that would attack her. She knew this was her only opportunity to escape her living hell. She went to the door and turned the knob. The dogs growled. She prayed for God’s protection. When she opened the door and walked out, the dogs saw her, stopped growling, lay down, and let her pass. I told her, “I believe they recognized your innocence." She fell into my arms, “But the nightmares won’t stop,” she sobbed. After completing her painting she said, smiling, “Look! I found my soul again." |
